Here is where we will highlight key classes and strengths in our academic program.

We are pouud of our strong academic reputation. This page allows us to explain the classes and requirements. We offer a wide range of classes, as well as several areas where students can choose for their studies.

A New Chinese as a second language teaching system will be used from this semester. Please see the details at Stanford Chinese School and the Glance of the teaching plan"

Study Supplies for Ma's classes:

  • 1. two cassettes, a cassette player and recorder for speaking homework.
  • 2. A box of sandwich bags to keep the Chinese new word cards each week.

    Advance Chinese, Geometry and Algebra II

  • Age of students: 13 - 17.
  • Advance Chinese: Teacher will quickly go through Ma's Chinese text books to help students review Chinese Pin Yin, word section theory, Chinese vocabulary. Students will focus on the reading comprehensive material and explore more Chinese culture. They will write essays using Chinese-written software on the computer. They will begin to learn how to translate Chinese to English or English to Chinese. The school will open more volunteer opportunities to them in practising Chinese language in a useful way, such as volunteer Chinese Assistant Teacher, school year book editorial club or Chinese Cultrue event in Memephis area. Students not only learn the Chinese Language, but also gain the experience in using Chinese Langauge in their real life. They will setup good examples to the younger kids on keeping their interests in learning Chinese.
  • Geometry: Even school weeks in whole semester.

  • This class is designed for whole school year.
  • Each student should have two tapes (for home work) and a tape recorder at home.
  • Text Book -- Ma's Chinese Book 1 - 9(quikly review), begin on book 10 (Whole school year).

    2. The students who come to U.S.A. at their age 8, 9 and finished school 3th grade or up in China, or have finished the ZhongWen Text Book 7 and have passed the Mosk SAT II Exam, or have the same Chinese level.

  • Special note; There will be a small jump in remembering more Chinese words and learning the structure of Chinese words. Parents should take time to help students for their home work.

  • Students will continue to use Chinese dictionary. By using this tool, students will explore Chinese vocabulary in order to develop their comprehensive reading skills, writing skills and speaking skills. Students will write some application notes and some small stories. Students also will learn Chinese cultrue from their reading.

Students will be encouraged to take mosk SAT II Chinese as a Foreign Language Exame at second semester.

    Chinese For Elder Beginers (CFEB)(8 - 15 seats) 2:00pm - 4:00pm
  • Age: 10 and up.
  • A course specifically designed for those whose mother tongue is not Chinese or not mandarin (pu tong hua), or no environment to hear or speak Chinese. CFEB will be taught by an instructor in both Chinese and English. Students begin by learning Pin Yin, simple Chinese characters and moving on to learn words, sentences, and conversational skills. Since the CFEBclass is taught in an environment where many Chinese-speaking children also learn to read and write in their mother tongue, students in the CFEB class will have excellent opportunities to put what they learn into practice right away.
