It was originally founded and operated by the Memphis Chinese Professional
Association(MCPA) at 1995. After MCPA ceased its operation around 1999, Memphis Chinese Language School was kept its operating by parent volunteers.
Its goal was to provide an environment for students to learn Chinese
Language.
The Summer Camp was added into the school programs in recent years. Memphis
Chinese School has offered performing art in dancing & singing programs and has given
performances on various festivals to promote Chinese culture and arts. Over hundreds
children have studied in this school during the years.
In 2002, in order to meet the management requiment for the increased
number of students, Memphis Chinese School volunteer "Administration Team" and
"Parents and Teachers Association"(PTA) were elected by the parents of the students.
In 2003, with the help from Highland Church both teams worked with parents together to get "Non-profit Organization" approved by the office of the Tennessee Secretary of State for our school. The approved Charter has been forwarded to the Shelby County Register's Office for recording. The school's registered name is
"Memphis Chinese Language School". This School opens
to everyone who is interested to learn Chinese or Chinese Cultrue from the age 3 and up.
