Art 3 Teacher: Ms. Suchara

  • Class Objectives: Students will explore advanced drawing techniques while being introduced to new drawing media. The teacher will individully teach students sometime in the class.
  • Supply List: Supplies can be purchased at Hobby Lobby, The Art Sept, or Michaels.
  • 1. black India ink(waterproof)
  • 2. 18 * 24 inch sketchpad 24-30 scheets(do not get newsprint)
  • 3. oil pastels, set of 24(Graypas brand or someing similar)
  • 4. Gary chalk pastels, set of 12
  • 5. storage box or tackle box to hold supplies.
  • 6. pencil sharpener

  • Teacher will provide:
  • 1. Ebony pencil
  • 2. Kneaded Eraser
  • 3. Charcoal
  • 4. Hairspray
  • 5. Drawing tip and staff for India ink
  • 6. Watercolors

  • Teaching Plan: Note:Schedule subject to change. Please bring all supplies to class each week.

      Week 1 (09/07): Drawing with graphite. Creating the illusion of 3D on 2D surface. Learning to see like an artist. Creating full range of value. Discuss implied line. Keeping a stechbook.
      Week 2 (09/14): Drawing with graphite continued. Introduce drawing technique of hatching. Discuss thumbnail sketches and composition.
      Week 3 (09/21): Introduction of Pen and Ink
      Week 4 (09/28): Pen and Ink continued. Mixed media
      Week 5 (10/05): Introduction to Gray Pastels (Bring an old T-shirt to wear. This get messy)
      Week 6 (10/12): Gray Pastels continued.
      Week 7 (10/08): Intoduction to charcoal. Drwwing from Nature.
      Week 8 (10/19): Charcoal continued.
      Week 10 (11/09): Introduction to Oil Pastels. Color mood, color mixing, center of interest, color balance.
      Week 11 (11/16): Oil Pastels continued.
      Week 12 (11/23): Oil Pastels continued.
